The Authors
Holly Rampone & Lola Smith
Holly and her daughter Lola are a mother-daughter team who see the world as a place brimming with hidden magic.
Holly’s debut picture book was inspired by Lola’s own story—her early arrival into the world, 11 weeks ahead of schedule. After nine weeks in the NICU, Lola emerged healthy, strong, and filled with a love for life. Today, she is a vibrant young reader with an insatiable passion for books, a quality that fuels this shared creative journey.
Outside of writing, Holly holds a doctorate in acupuncture with a specialization in oncology. Her work with patients is a constant source of inspiration, teaching her about resilience, hope, and the strength of the human spirit.
She is also an entrepreneur, lifelong learner, and adventurer. She treasures exploring the world with her family, embracing travel as a way to connect with new cultures and expand her sense of wonder.
Together, Holly and Lola create stories that invite children and their grown-ups to embark on adventures and discover the extraordinary in the everyday. Their books are a heartfelt invitation to step into curiosity, joy, and magic—wherever the journey may lead.
The Illustrator
Vivien Sárkány
Vivien Sárkány is an animation graduate from Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in
Budapest, Hungary. After completing her degree, she moved to Java on a scholarship to study culture at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts, Surakarta.
She then settled in Bali, where she
further explored her passion for visual arts and experimented with different techniques.
After this eight-year chapter in Indonesia, Vivien moved back to Hungary,
where she continues her creative journey.
Vivien became drawn to illustration as a new way to fulfill her interest in storytelling, creating
new worlds, places, and characters, and watching them come alive. Inspired by all living things,
she tries to capture the beautiful little moments of life in her art.
